Two biology courses at the University of South Alabama, taught by the same professor, though in different semesters. One course was used as a control (n=33)--no learning contract used. In the second (n=35), a limited learning contract with activity choices was used. |
Learning contract was used for one course, not for the other. Then, comparisons were made as to grades and withdrawals. |
The learning contract group had higher numbers of A and B grades with significantly fewer failing grades and withdrawals. |
