Mostly theory--The authors suggest a six-step process by which poor performing doctors can get needed goals and feedback so that they can avoid dismissal. The process consists of: 1) Identifying the problem, 2) Setting up the learning contract, 3) Creating a safe environment for the diagnostic, 4) Receiving feedback, 5) Implementing and Reviewing, and 6) Evaluating the outcomes. Though the authors claim that the process saves the "system" much in funds, they have only used the process on ten doctors at the time of the article's publication. There is also little printed in the article to "prove" the positives of the process.
